TV TRANSMITTER
CASE HISTORY

CEC has been a powerhouse in all segments of RF design and manufacturing, so it’s recent entrance into the television transmission marketplace was most likely predictable. It’s also likely predictable given CEC’s leadership in the RF industry that it’s new line of CTX transmitters would take the industry by storm.

CEC was selected by Louisiana Public Broadcasting to supply UHF transmitters for their television re-pack project.

KLPA in Alexandria, LA needed approximately 25kW of TPO and CEC delivered and installed the CTX732 UHF solid state transmitter operating on channel 33.
The liquid-cooled CTX732 consists of 32 solid state amplifier trays each delivering about 1kW of average power. The transmitter uses a 4-Way geysel combiner that was designed and manufactured by ERI. CEC chose this design to limit external RF losses and provide a high quality ATSC input to the mask filter.
The CTX Series UHF TV transmitters utilize advanced energy efficient GaN (Gallium Nitride) transistor technology, which represents a leap forward in solid state design.
Continental is proud to be chosen as LPB’s partner to deliver its RF engineering and manufacturing expertise in support of public broadcasting in Louisiana.

CEC wins “Best of Show” award at National Association of Broadcasters’ NAB Show, presented by TV Technology

The Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry.
The CTX Series UHF TV transmitters are the first to utilize the advanced energy efficient GaN (Gallium Nitride) transistor technology, which represents a leap forward in solid state design.
Not only are capital costs comparable with other transmitter technologies, the operational costs are much lower because of more efficient operation. With the CTX, you can expect efficiencies up to 45% on UHF channels.
Highly compelling reasons, such as impressive long-term cost reduction, competitive features, easy scalability and operation at a wider temperature range– to name a few—have earned CEC this impressive industry recognition, and suggests that CTX may soon dominate the TV Broadcast market.
